This Will Destroy You

This Will Destroy You is a four piece post-rock band based out of San Marcos, Texas. Their sound can be compared to Godspeed You Black Emperor or Mogwai in that their music is a heavily distorted, dark, almost post-apocalyptic. Their music is all instrumental thus far and can be heard in the film The Taking of Pelham 123. They have released two studio albums along with two EPs.

I have always been a fan of the post-rock genre. After seeing the film 28 Days Later I began looking for bands similar to the one's that made the soundtrack to this movie so haunting and emotional. Their music is not particularly heavy but it hits home where it needs to. Soft intros that lead into hard rocking breakdowns stir emotions that are not easily duplicated by other artists. They have the ability to keep their sound fresh from track to track despite the fact that they don't rely on vocals to tell their stories. This Will Destroy You is a band that you should look into if you like dark instrumental post-rock.
